What's going on here? .....
I logged in here tonight to find 149 posts had been added since I last looked (less than 48 hours ago). Lo and behold most of those posts came from one person - some entries posted within a minute of the previous one. And most of these replies were unnecessary, as the original posts were made more than 15 months ago. Can someone look into this, please? Is the forum under attack? Or is someone having a laugh?

Thanks for that, JayPee - situation clarified. I see that things were done this way for the best of reasons.
I'm an Moderator on a forum just like this (but not for Genealogy) and if a post goes unanswered there is usually a reason why - no-one can help. If they have been left for 15 months or more, why resurrect them at all. Old unanswered posts should be allowed to simply fade away or, better still, deleted by an Administrator.

Hi Hbaird
I do hope you can bear with us whilst we carry out this essential maintenance. Catriona is "fair going some" - it should be over soon!
Best wishes
Lesley
A lot of the posts which were taking up room in the Unaswered posts section were "announcements" or "stickies" - these are the ones Catriona is trying to clear. We can't delete these as many of them contain vital and/or helpful information. It is not a case of resurrecting them - what we are trying to do is remove these posts from the "unanswered posts" so that the genuine unanswered posts which do require an answer, and have perhaps been neglected, are easier to spot. Both the moderators and the AG spend quite bit of time in the unanswered post section and it was getting to the point where it was becoming difficult to see the wood for the trees! If they have been left for 15 months or more, why resurrect them at all.
This is not always the case on TS - new resources come online on a weekly, if not daily basis. New members are joining daily - they may have a connection to a family, or an intimate knowledge of a place, or experience in a certain area which has been mentioned in an older post and may be able to help or add some useful information months after the original post was made.if a post goes unanswered there is usually a reason why - no-one can help
