Good morning and welcome!
Your post caught my eye because I too have Rosses in my family! Unfortunately I don't recognise any of "your" names. My Ross family originate from around Forfar/Perthshire, and I think I am heading back to Ross & Cromarty/Ross-shire with the older ones now. Where is Rosskeen?
You will find folks on this site very helpful and if you have a specific query or problem they are only to happy to help and make postive suggestions. There are some who are very knowledgeable (sure that spelling is wrong! - anyway they know a lot!) and they are happy to share that with the rest of us.
Good luck with your searching and I hope you find some connections.

thanks Liz!
i have used a few other forums, but have just discovered this one...
Rosskeen is on the eastern shores of Ross & Cromarty - right on the Cromarty firth. (if you visit multimap website and type in Invergordon it should come up).
I noticed you are also researching Christie and Gibson - do any of these have links with Ross & Cromarty or Inverness?
kind regards,
Lorna.

Hi Lorna
Glad that you found us here - we all try to help where we can. Again bad news on the Christie/Gibson front - my Christie is in Glasgow and the Gibsons are in Fife.
I have this ghastly suspicion that we may well find somehow that the Rosses are related eventually, but since half the population in Ross & Cromarty seem to be called Ross, I'm not sure how we'd ever prove it!
All the best.

Ross descendants
Hi,
Hope you do`nt mind me butting in, I noticed your query about Ross when I was having a browse through the postings (I have not been on the site for a while)
I was interested because I have just discovered the name of Ross has appeared in my Grant line (My gt gt gt grandfather was George Grant)
he married Catherine Ross, daughter of Thomas Ross, a blacksmith, her mother`s name was Fanny, but maiden name was unknown,
I do`nt know where the Ross family would have come from originally ,however the marriage had taken place place in Edinburgh
St Cuthberts area
Catherine would have been born abt 1796 according to the age given on her death cert when she died in 1858 (62 years)
Catherine & George were then living at North Melville Place, Edinburgh
Their son John Peter Grant married Euphemia Nelson in 1841 (my gt gt grandparents)
Could Catherine have had any link to your Ross family??

Hi Maud/Lorna
I plan to use some of my time off on holiday next week sorting my FH stuff (I'm going to see how an expert does it - thanks Russell) - mine is currently stored in carrier bags/boxes in the bottom of the wardrobe
including old photos, family bible, birthday book etc - shocking I know
I will prepare my Ross stuff and post it next week.
Keep on with your hunting - don't give up - I might need help!
