Whats this ?

Post by Tracey » Fri Jul 14, 2006 12:23 pm

Every nown again i get a blue screen appear with a message which tells me my pc has a problem and it has shut it down. It then tells me to uninstall any new software (not applicable). Then how to resart my pc

At the bottom of the page it says "Dumping physical memory".

Thats it.

On re booting i get a message
"The ialmrnt 5 display driver has stopped working normally"

This has been happening now for over 6 months and on rebooting its fine, you'd never know it happened.

Is this something to worry about or just the occasional norm ? :?

Have you tried re-installing the display drivers? I had a similar problem about a year ago (but with a different driver name) and that was the only thing that eventually cured it.

Have to say it did start after a Microsoft auto update but I'm not worth enough to state categorically it was their fault

Also, not being paranoid here (Yeah! Sure!) but when was the last time you did a full virus scan? I don't mean the background stuff that goes on with some virus packages, I mean a real down and dirty "scan all files, all partitions".

I've got into the habit of setting one going on a Sunday while I'm cooking dinner. Got a huge HD so needs to be running while I'm too occupied to get "puter withdrawal"

Hi Tracey,

Whenever I get a message like that, I google the name of whatever isn't working properly. When I did this for your "ialmrnt 5 display driver" I got a lot of results, mostly forums with posts from people with the same problem, and others replied on how to fix it. You will get more results by typing it as "ialmrnt5 display driver" in talking marks and no space before the five.

Good luck!

Afternoon !

Down loading stuff i know nothing about is not something i think i should be doing yet :!:  but i will keep that web site handy thanks Emanday.

Also like you i scan once a week (Sunday moning in my case !) while i am cleaning, washing..... otherwise occupied.................

All the googles i have read so far the driver thing seems to be connected to games and i havnt read one solution yet (after 2 pages) just people trying to be clever and asking more questions but never answering the question !!

It makes me wonder if anyone actually knows about pc's !

Thanks for your responses

Tracey, that link is for the Intel site's own drivers. Assuming it is an Intel processor on your PC, and not an AMD, (which it isn't if you had that driver), I think you'll find, if you contact them on the site, that they will be able to reassure you that it is a safe download.

Also, like anything other download, create a restore point before you use it.

Hi emanday yes i did notice it was Intel !

I just really wanted to know how serious it was or wasnt and if anyone knew the answer.
Im not exactly scared of intervening with my pc but as the pc seems to recover with no after effects as first said i just wondered how serious it was - thats what i need to know before was before i start downloading anything.

Thanks for all your help

Well, I would be most concerned about the message that says 'Dumping physical memory". I would want to get rid of that function, because it doesn't sound good! Anything that is dumping without my permission is not a good thing!

Try and take note of what you are doing when you get that message...if it is the same, or a similar thing each time that you are trying to do, then you need to fix it.

Some of the drivers are used for more than games, and so you may find that your pc won't work for watching video (sometimes important in our research) or playing music, for example. The people on those sites mainly talk about games because they are most likely young game players.
