Date of birth.....

Can anyone tell me the Date Of Birth of James Walker?.

His wife was Margaret Reid, born 28/6/1801, so I'm guessing that his would be around that year.

I've looked in the IGI, but there are too many with the name James Walker, and I have no way of knowing which one it is.

They were married in May 1822 in Old Monkland.

Hi Elizabeth,

A difficult one to narrow down.

Did he survive to be on the 1851 census? If so, that could give an indication of age and place of birth.

Did he survive in Scotland after 1855? If so, have you found a death certificate for him, hopefully with parents' names.

Hi Elizabeth

This is an 1841 census transcript but as you say there were lots of James so as you only have the marriage place i put that in as a possible guide under Margarets name. If it is them Margarets birth year is correct, not being affected by the 5 year round up or down as few of mine were

Looking at the 1881 census there is a Margaret Walker, widow, aged 81 who was born in Old Monkland now living in Torphichen, Linlithgow, Scotland................maybe

Hi Elizabeth,
Don't know if this is any help but on the FREECEN site for 1841
there is a Margaret Walker (Mrs) born outside district of Lanark aged 40 with 5 children aged 18- 5 Margaret ,Janet,Agnes ,William & David ,but no sign of James.
Their Address is RUTHERGLEN LOAN,
Maybe he died between 1836 -1841 going by youngest childs age.
There are 2 others at the address by the name of TAYLOR.
