Starting with almost nothing .....

Post by Allison » Fri Jul 28, 2006 12:46 am

Good evening!
this is a request for my husband's side of the family. He and His sister (12 hyears younger than he) knows very little about their mother's side of the family other than her name. She was born August 20, 1923 in East Riggs, Scotland as Elizabeth Barbara Beryl Wise but when I go to try and search out her birth certificate I am advised that she is born too recently to do it on-line. She died when my husband was 24 (he raised his sister from the time she was 12) and my husband's father died two years prior to that date. Alastair's sister would like to know more about her mother's side (as would he) so I am wondering how we go about getting at least the birth certificate if not on line. My husband understands that the Wise family is part of the Ross clan.

This community has been so helpful in the past I know someone out there will have the answer to get us started on this quest and hopefully provide both of them with an unexpected Christmas present in the next year or two.

Hi Allison
Your best bet I think would be either to contact GROS directly for a copy of a the birth certificate:

Or employ a researcher to go & look for you.

Best wishes
