Can any one help me I am looking for information on my ggggrandmother she was born in Airdrie in about 1805 this comes from info on the 1851 census. I would like to know who her parents were and any other info have tried IGI only saying born about 1804, Airdrie. Any help would be gratefully apprec

Is her maiden name Samuel or was that her married name. Do you know is she married and when? Have you looked for her death on SP. If she was on the 1851 census she may well have survived post 1855.

Samuel was her maiden name no record on OPR of her marriage pre 1855.

Hi again

Browsing back through your previous posts I see that Ann was married to Mr Toy. In that case she died in November 1870 in Airdrie and her parents were James Samuel a tanner and Margaret Samuel m.s. Tennant.

She is noted to be a pauper which may open up a whole new seam of information.

Her previous husband was a Mr Gallacher.

Both her parents are deceased by this time, not surprisingly.

Hi once again

According to the IGI the Ann Samuel who was the daughter of James Samuel and Margaret Tennant was born in 1801 in Bathgate, West Lothian. My geography is dire but I don't think that's too far from Airdrie. She has quite a few brothers and sisters listed.

Are you sure the entry on the census was right?

Just remembered that that could be an older Ann who died in infancy and your Ann could be a younger sister who is not recorded. Perhaps the family moved to Airdrie.
