Andrew Young & Wife Mary left Scotland 1835-1838 for Can

Post by Canadian girl » Tue Aug 08, 2006 3:08 pm

Hi :D
I am in Canada and trying to find the link from here back to Scotland. Here is the information I have relating to the Youngs here.

Andrew Young born: March or April 1780 Scotland
married
Mary (?) born: 1805 Scotland

children:
Hugh Young b: March 1827 Scotland
John Young b: 1831 or 1836 Scotland
Agnes Young b: 1832 Scotland
Margaret Young b: 1833 - 1834 Scotland

The family then set sail for Canada around the time of 1836-1838 since I have a record of the first child born in Canada birth Feb.11 1839 in New Brunswick Canada.

There were three more born here in Canada. Along side of these stones at the cemetery I found the names of William Young and Thomas Young but with only information regarding the death no information to who they were. I am guess that if they are related then they are sons from a first marriage, brothers, cousin or nephew to Andrew. Or perhaps they were already here in Canada or came with Andrew and his family.

Does any of this sound like a part of your family tree? if so then please email and I will share all information about the family here in Canada.

There is an Andrew Young & Mary Jackson that have children the same names but the dates are not the same as well Mary Young (Jackson) was still have children in Scotland when my family Andrew & Mary were here in Canada have children.

If any of this sounds like you family let me know.
thanks
CG

I see a lot of people have read my post but no relpies......:( if there isn't a family connection out there is there any ideas?

All I know is that the family came from Scotland. Since there is a big age difference between Andrew and Mary I am thinking this is a second marriage for Andrew and the first for Mary. Would that be any help to me in finding out more? the two men Thomas and William perhaps being the sons of Andrew from a first marriage......

I guess since the family left when they did it didn't work out regarding census very well.

thanks CG

Hi Canadian Girl:

Have you checked the 1851 Canadian Census at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealo ... 500-e.html This most recent posting of Canadian census rolls may render some information about the adults in your group.

Unfortunately, there is no name index to this database, but as you know where they are buried, you may be able to find them in the location/geographic index.

Have you checked this site for a record of them landing in Canada? The Grosse Isle database? The immigration records, if there will give you their place of origin and if they were travelling together, possibly their relationship.
