Hi Jenny
I know very little about the Blain family at all.
Was it Shettleston Puplic School your Father attended?
It's great when you have photographs, that you know who is in them, but even better when you have a date.
Absolutely brilliant.
I have a few books on areas in Glasgow, one being "Shettleston from Old and New Photographs", by Thomas W. Waugh. published 1986.
ISBN 0 9511625 0 0.
It has several pics from the early 20th century.
Fairly common wee paperback.
Just wondering if you have come across it.
You should have a chat wey Cathy, as that's her patch as well.

Yes, it is in Shettleston - both the old and new school buildings - and I think counted then as the local Shettleston school. It had quite a lot of pupils but obviously not many in the 'senior' class then. My father left and went into Beardmore's, and one of the teachers went into the workplace and ordered him back to school! I think he gave some assistance to the family, as well.

Hi Jenny,
I take it your dAd left SKOOL at 14?
In the book I mentioned there are a few pics of children from both, Shettleston and Eastbank 1911- 36.
A lot of my childhood friends went to Eastbank, when they were re-housed from Brig'ton and the Calton to the far east of Sandyhills etc.
I would assume you are one of the few folk, who could tell where Egypt was in Scotland.
