Bannatyne etal names (Argyll >Bute> Stirling & Gla

Post by b1b2j3 » Wed Sep 06, 2006 3:16 am

Would it be appropriate for me to drop down some of My Family above Ballantine / Bannatyne, Ballantyne research to help people? Or wait for queries. It's just that my line had no research done on them until I did it. Bute Sons & Daughters site none, Ancestry.com, none. Apart from another side of Bannatyne who were Stewart Family. Mine were from Campbells.

In a search for Bannatyne etal names spelling Talking Scots has only maybe two (?)

Bron :) :?

And one of them is probably me   I have traced my Ballantynes forward from 1851 to 1901 but haven't yet tried to go any further back. Must do it sometime,
Surname interest: McKenzie, Ballantyne in Lanarkshire. Wh(y)ite in Blantyre. McPherson. McNaught.

That would be great! My Ballantynes start with George Ballantyne married to Catherine McKENZIE in 1851 (Glasgow). He was a Merchant seaman. I think his parents were Thomas(?) and Marion but I now have a contact who tells me George was the son of John Ballantyne and Agnes Wood. I can't make that connection work but she is convinced. If you feel like sorting that one out I'd be very grateful!
