Good evening people!
I am at this moment looking for the family names of Duffy or Joyce, they seem to come from Ireland then moved to Scotland. It all started with an old photo and newspaper clipping of my Grandads cousin John Duffy who was born in 16 Kirk Street, Glasgow in 1894 and died in the Great War in 1916. I know he had at least three sisters Mary who was older and two younger sisters Margaret and Catherine. Their fathers name is Michael Duffy and mothers name is Margaret Joyce. They were married in St Mary's Chaple, Glasgow, Calton Dist' on 23rd May 1890. Does this ring any bells with anyone else looking into thier family tree? If so please get in touch.
Also last question, how do I find B.D.M after 1901?
Cheers
Chris.

Hi Chris
....and to expand on Lesley's BMD reply above....if you wish to access records newer than those time periods she's listed as available online then either plan a visit to Edinburgh New Register House or Glasgow Park Circus....or find a friend or engage a professional to access them for you.......or in the case that you know the exact date of a specifc event you can even pay New Register House to post you the information. So there are many options depending on just what time period you're looking into!!
Best wishes

Two lines below the TalkingScot logo at the top of this page, you should see a button marked Scotlands People. Click on that. It should take you directly to their website www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk .ChrisGlackin wrote:At the risk of sounding VERY thick where is the link? I can't see it at the top of the page
All the best,

Just one more quickie if I may. As you know it costs a tennet if you want to order copies of the certs, does it cost the same if I went to the Glasgow office?
Here is a link that explains more about the Park Circus genealogy center.
http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/ ... ogyCentre/
As you can see if you were to go there you need to reserve a spot well in advance and it will cost you a bit more than a tenner for a days work. I'm not familiar with what means you have there for obtaining copies of the digital images but if it's like New Register House in Edinburgh then anything newer than available online you would have to request an offical extract of (costing the arm and leg) or you can opt to transcribe as much data as your fingers can write on your own paper or type into your own laptop or other device or for no further fee. Paper copies from NRH for time periods that match those available online through ScotlandsPeople website cost 50 pence I think. When I went there I focused on the newer records and transcribed all my data so only had to pay the daily entrance fee.
Hope I've not confused things further.....please keep asking questions as that is why we're all here!
Best wishes
Jean
