CWGC can make mistakes!

Post by Muriel » Thu Sep 28, 2006 9:16 am

On family information gleaned from another relative through Genes Reunited there was a note that the death of a William Gemmell in WW2 in India was not recorded by the CWGC. I checked & discovered that he is recorded, but as William Gemmel - a small error but an important one! So, if you can't find someone, check the spelling.

Yep this happened on my Thomas Waddell.I had his service no,date of death but Zilch.
Then I mistyped the name as Waddel & bingo up it came.I contacted CWGC & they said they would correct it but not so far-one year & counting.
Well just did a quick check & they have rectified the error.
