Anyone looking for Henderson?
I am in the process of researching a large number of different offshoots from my family tree (HENDERSON). However, I've decided to offer the information that I have on my own family to anybody that is interested in the Henderson line, in exchange for any information that they might have.
So far, I can trace the Henderson family back to a birth that took place circa 1805, and his subsequent marriage circa 1836. I have no information on where exactly these two events occurred, but I can say that two of the three offspring that I've found from that marriage were born in Ayr, with the third and eldest having married in Glasgow.
Where it starts to come apart slightly is that my paternal grandfather was one of six children (2 of them twins). Of the other five, I've managed to establish that one died as a spinster in Wishaw in the early 1980s, whilst one died a widow in 1967. About my three great-uncles I know nothing at all, although I did hear tales of emigration to Spain or thereabouts.
Unfortunately I am now the oldest surviving member of my direct branch of the family, my father having passed away a couple of months ago, and my grandfather having died in 1965. The other branches of the family that emanate from my grandfather's siblings are also starting to pass away, so I'm rapidly losing the ability to speak to people and pick their brains, which is why I'm making this posting.
If this approach proves to be successful, I may well do something similar with other names within our family. For now, I wait to see what will happen next.

I am not really researching Henderson but I do have one Henderson who married into my McMurray tree. Robert Lambie Henderson married Margaret Graham Piggot in Blythswood, Glasgow in 1888. I know they had one daughter. Maggie, who was living as a one year old with her grandparents, Thomas Piggot and Ann Gaabraith in the 1891 census. Don't know where the parents were.
May I suggest if you posted some specidic names and dates you would be more likely to get some help from the good people on this site.

Henderson
I also have a load of Hendersons. Mine are from Bo'ness West Lothian, although on the 1841 census they state Fife as their origin. From Bo'ness a branch goes to Glasgow, and apparently another went to Winnipeg Canada, then to the States. Starts around 1830s. Can share names, dates, and send copies of various certificates. Donna

In researching for my McLean family I came across a Margaret Henderson who married John McLean around 1800, going by the childrens birth years.
They had the following children:
Margaret b 11/05/1800
James b 01/12/1802
Kenneth b 24/02/1804
William b 16/06/1806
Elizabeth b 03/07/1808
Ann b 09/09/1810
They were all born in Cromarty and were on the OPR Births and Baptisms search for the years 1780 to 1820. (Scotlands People)
There may be more children but I didn't look further as they weren't who I was after. Hope this is some help.
Happy hunting,
Sandy

Hello,
Could you post some of your names/places of people at all? Having looked into Hendersons there are a lot of them about.
I have Hendersons in my family tree, they appear to originate from Gladsmuir/Haddington areas in East Lothian and I've got some certificates that provide information back to the late 1700s.
One part of the family moved across to Ayrshire in the late 1800s/early 1900s.
If you recognise any of this then let me know and I can share info.
Best wishes
Donna

Millar surname
Hi Donna: I see you have Millar too. Are yours from Ayr? I have Archibald Millar father to Sidney Millar ( 1808), father to Agnes Speirs Millar and so on from Irvine- if you think there might be a connection let me know so I can post more information. Donna

Hi Donna,
'Fraid not, my Millars are from the Bothwell/Hamilton area, progressing to Glasgow around late 1870s then onto Clydebank.
You don't think these names as so common until you start trying to pin people down.
Unfortuantely your Hendersons are the wrong side of the river for me too.
best wishes
Donna

I've got quite a lot of Hendersons, all living in Falkirk between about 1760 and 1880.
