Are they the same people.....

Post by STUARTDALGLEISH » Mon Oct 09, 2006 2:54 pm

Hi all,

I was looking for some opinions on the photo's I've uploaded. Do you thinks these are the same people taken over their lifetimes.
Top row is 3 individual pictures
Middle row is the 3 ladies in the same picture
Bottom row is the two ladies in the same picture.
I know the bottom row is two of my great aunts but I think it is them over their lives. The middle column I'm sure was the other missing sister who was dead by the time the bottom row picture was taken.
I just think there are alot of similarities if you look at them.

Hi Stuart,

they certainly look very similar and i would say there is a very strong possibility that they could be the same people taken over time.

although sometimes it is hard to tell

Hi Stuart

I'd agree with the two outside columns but don't see the resemblance in the middle row. The eyebrows are just not the same..........sorry....personal opinion only and nothing scientific aboot that!

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Stuart

As Jean says its aw personal opinion.
Or Davie's comment that it's no rocket science.
I agree with Jean though The right hand ladies are a cert.
The left upper two are pretty positive with the lower one highly likely - Just look at the mouth with a slight downturn in each.

The middle two I don't think are the same person. The breadth of face across just below the eyes is different (the Zygomatic arch) and thats one thing that doesn't change with time.

Its great to have lovely photos from the past though.

Maybe its just me, but the bottom lady in the middle column looks more like another photograph for another period in time for the lady in the left column. :?:

Thanks everyone for you reply's

I've had these photographs for a while now and always wondered who the old lady's in the pictures were. I never noticed the similarity before until last night when I was scanning a few old pictures into my Family Tree. As usual these things happen by accident the cat jumped up on the table and knocked a few of them over and they all seemed to land side by side  Do you know that feeeling when it just hit's you...these are the same people taken over many years. Now for my silly question  the two ladies on the outside were born in 1852 and the magical 1855, when would photographs of the ordinary joe bloggs have started? as these two ladies look about 20 making the date of the photo's about 1875?? would this have been possible and if so, would it not have been rather expensive.

Cheers

Hi all again,

Here are the original group photographs showing at least Agnes and Jenny Cameron I thinks plus another sister who I assume would be Mary

Apart from Russell's observation, I see the shape of the upper lip, the eyebrow structure and the distance between the bottom lip and chin as being very different. The width of the mouth in relation to the face is also noticibly wider in one over the other.

I think that the upper centre picture has more of a resemblance to the woman holding the baby in the second group picture? The straighter brow line, with both having noticibly different eyebrows, the straight, wide, mouth line and the pads along the lower eye socket.
