The Ontario Genealogical Society site includes a great deal of indexed information on census, births, obits, cemetaries, marriages and some military records. A few census record indexes include maiden names. Predominately focussed on Ontario, it does include some info relating to other provinces.

Contact info for the Ontario Genealogical Society and its member societies is also available.

Good morning Frances and thank you. but I cannot figure out how it works?

I have been looking for years for find my Grandmother Helen Rankin, who having been widowed in Clydebank/Glasgow, left her three children with her sisters, and travelled to Canada with a well to do family. She married a man named Edward Thomson (could be different spelling) and they purchased a 100 ace farm in Sharon, Ontario. I have never been able to trace her. When I arrived here in 1965 I checked out the Town Offices in Newmarket to find there had been a fire some years ago and most records were lost.
Would love to find her in a census. It is bizarre, living right on top of it and unable to find records.

Before you go further, it is worth knowing that there are/have been TWO SHARON, Ontarios [not to mention Sharon Lake and Sharon River]. One is in York County closest to you, the other is in Middlesex near London, Ontario; both have great farming histories.
