Can you supply any more info about him? Parents names? Was he married before he came to Canada? When/where he died?

There are 367 John Stewarts in the 1911 census for Ontario alone. None of them are listed as living in Algoma, so without a wife or family member it is anybody's guess, which one it would be.

I located and viewed the census record you posted. It gives his marital status as "M", but there is no wife at that location, only a 'clerk'. As he was a railroad contractor, he could very well have been away from home, so to find his wife ....

Just wanted to let you know that digital images are available for British Columbia deaths through Vital Chek Network. Information on how to order a digital image is located (if my memory serves me correctly) under the heading " Information on Usage" on the BC site.

Don't mean to confuse anyone, but my reference to digitized records is meant to indicate that the records do not appear online in the same manner SP records do - for direct download to your computer.

Hi Michele
I have used BC Archives in the past for death certificates. You pay for them through Vitalchek and they are sent to you as attachments in an email. The image quality is very good. My order took 4 days and cost $39 Canadian for 2 certificates.
