Hi Folks,
One iof 'my' Mitchells - Stewart Mitchell married Christian Sim in 1868 in Aberdeen. He was a widower at the time and the 1851 census says he was a widower then also. I have found a possible first marriage for him - there is a Stewart Mitchell married to Ann Lumsden on the 30th May 1847 in Strachan and again on the 5th of June 1847 in Tullynessle & Forbes. Does anyone know anything about this couple or can they rule in or out the possibility that it is the same Stewart Mitchell? If it's right then Ann Lumsden died somewhere between 1847 and 1851 but I can't check that on SP. Tried the on-line ANESFHS MI Index but no matching Ann Lumsden - most of mine had no headstone anyway.
Any ideas?
Tish

Hi Tish
Best wishes
Lesley
Possibly the banns being read in one parish & then in the other, or possibly marriage in the other - it suggests the bride was from one parish, the groom from the other. A look at the OPRs may clarify.there is a Stewart Mitchell married to Ann Lumsden on the 30th May 1847 in Strachan and again on the 5th of June 1847 in Tullynessle & Forbes
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Jean,
yes I have the death certificate but only Christian/Christina Sim mentioned as his wife. If Ann Lumsden was indeed his first wife there was 20 years between his first and second marriages - who knows there might never have been mention of the first and as both were in their 80s by then it might just have seemed to long ago to be bothered!
Lesley,
yes I presumed same as you except I thought they were working in one parish and she came from the other as Stuart came from Crathie. SP doesn't have deaths and I've no other way of finding out.
Thanks
Tish
