Hi
I have been looking and looking for years now for my ancestors the came from Scotland to Canada back in about 1837. The stories go that the family left Glasgow in 1837ish and was ship wrecked of the East Coast of Canada. They managed to save themselfs and pretty much nothing else. The first child born in Canada was in New Brunswick Feb. 1839. They then slowly moved down to Ontario to a small town of Binbrook and settled there for many many years. Actually my father was born there in 1935.
So my question is.......

I have been looking through all the ships sites to find the family leaving Scotland and arriving in Novia Scotia or New Brunswick. BUT....if there arrival spot was really suppose to be somwhere else but it never arrived due to the fact the ship started to go down off New Brunswick or Scotia should my research be different? Did that make sense
any ideas would be great thanks

I'd be inclined to suggest that Loyds Registers would have details about such a shipwreck.
Worth a try?

Hi Mary
years ago before computers......LOL I did write to them asking about ships that went down but with no luck. Is there a site now with all the wrecks or stranded ships? I did sort of have a look over the weekend but only found general sites not the Loyds itself.
thanks again

I've recently requested info from them, so here is the link...

In the boxes related to Company, I just put my name again, then Other for position and Personal research.
Got a reply this morning as a matter of fact. My query would cost £25 + VAT, but the very nice researcher pointed out to me that the same records as my enquiry is available to me in the Ships Registers here in Bristol at the Records Office.

Great will give it a try as well.
I will look through the site as well to see how far back the records go. I have found that there isn't a lot out there for the time frame of 1837ish.
thanks again
