My GreatGrandfather Anthony McLelland Fergusson b. 10 Aug 1846 Colmonell married Euphemia Arthur Caldow 29 Nov 1866 Auchinleck and had the following children.
Margaret Hall 1867, Agnes Kirk 1869, John 1871, Euphemia 1873, Jessie 1875, Antony 1877, James 1879, Alexander 1882, Hugh 1884, George 1887, Andrew Cook 1889.
Some of you may remember that I recently tracked the last four boys to the USA and Canada. However, I have now traced them all except for one girl.
Agnes Kirk Fergusson born 12 Aug 1869 Sorn, Ayrshire
Can the TS team's expertise finally resolve this one missing link.

Re: Agnes Fergus(s)on
Hello scopeo,
it is always best to assume that middle names may be omitted and that that names such as Fergusson may be Ferguson. She was not found in 1881, so a search for deaths in Ayrshire for Agnes Fergus*on born 1868 finds her in 1871 at Kilmarnock.
Regards,
John

Sporran would like you to believe he has never been carried away by that euphoria that grips you when you realise there is a middle name. It just might mean finding someone from a list about 27 names long, all with apparently the same credentials.
We've all done it and SP must benefit from our lapses.
Having just wasted 60 credits looking for the one sibling who never deigned to use his middle name. All his brothers and sisters did

Re: Agnes Kirk Fergus(s)on
Aye, Russell, I have experienced that euphoric rush.
However, with my Ferguson line very few of them had a middle name.
Mainly the females.
And whatever clever method we use SP always comes out on top.
But where would we be without them.
Cheers
John

Re: middle names
Hello John,
I would not dwell on it: most people have had blind spots, and I was making a general comment that being too narrow with a search may be unsuccessful.
Russell: I would normally get upset if others start ascribing opinions to me that I have not expressed, but you are correct. I was very pleased when James Taylor used his middle names of George Ingram, or just his initials, to help my research.
In my own case, I am almost certain that I am the only John Angus McCurdie alive at present, and probably the only one who has ever existed. Considering that estimates are that 70-100 billion people have roamed the earth, it is humbling. Of course, we could go down the route of Fifi Trixibelle Geldof to achieve that, but it is a bit drastic.
Regards,
John
