Hi everyone.
Need more help on the McLellans I'm afraid.
On a wills and testaments search on SP I find
John McLelland, residing at Balfron, d. 25/11/1898 at Balfron, testate.
So far so good - before I purchase the image for £5, want to get the death cert to make sure its the one I hope it is.
No death entry to be found!
I've searched (among other permutations) as follows:
M*clel*n* John, 1876-1881 all counties
M*clel*n* J* 1898-1899 all counties
Now I would have thought that either of these should have picked up this death, but no. Is it me? Am I having another senior moment??
Help please.
Ellen.
What am I doing wrong??

Doh! You're right Sarah - thanks. Even tho' its not the one I wanted. At least I didn't spend £5 on the will.
(NB the image shows M.Lellan no c!)
This is the final brother in the McLellan family. Have managed to trace all of Archibald Glen McLellan's siblings now (Janet, Alexander, Peter and Richard), except for this one John Turner McLellan, ch, 14 Jan 1844 @ Bathgate, West Lothian.
He signed Archibald's death cert in 1876, and was living at that time in Killearn - but where then?
Have just spoken to friend - and it seems he MIGHT have gone to USA after all. Back to Ancestry again.............
I'll let you know if I get anywhere.
Thanks again.
Ellen.
