Split screen

Can someone help me undo a split screen on my desktop.

I don't know what I did to get it, but as usual I was messing around pressing this that and the other.

I had put a little jumping smiley on my desk top and whatever I have done I have enlarged this and it now takes up a third of the screen and I have a line down the screen. I can move this to either side but can't get rid of it and can't get the smiley back to its original size or delete it.

I can't imagine how you did it, wini, but my only suggestion is to "restore" your computer to a point before you did do it!

Hi Wini,

Right-click on your desktop (away from the icons) and select properties. On the Display Properties, click on the Desktop tab.

What is selected in the Background box?
(is that where the oversize emoticon is selected?)

What is selected in the Position box?
(center, tile, or stretch?)

** take note of the existing selections before changing any, so that you can put back anything you change that is no good **

Try changing the background and/or the position and see if that has any useful effect.

I fixed it. Mary I have no idea what I did, I am a Techie's nightmare.

My local Computer shop is 400kms away and I am sure they cringe when I say who is calling.
They are very nice about it but as you have found out I am a complete numbskull.
Trouble is I just have to keep trying things.
