Place in Scotland

I have a New Zealand birth certificate in which the father states his place of birth as "Basshead Scotland"

I have been unable to locate such a place has anyone any ideas?

Could it be BaRRhead - which is in East Renfrewshire in Scotland?

Welcome to Talking Scot! I have an old letter dated 1841 that referred to, I thought, "Bashend"... Turned out to be Barrhead. Worth a try!

Hi , yeah I agree , most likely Barrhead . If you would like to know anything about the area I have done many projects on its prosperous history as I now live in Barrhead and find it an interesting place .
