Oanybudy waant tae buy a map?

Post by Davie » Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:04 pm

I see that the auctioneers have a guid sale this Wednesday.

I thought some of you would be interested in a few of the other lots along with the maps.
While I am not up for any of them myself, I'll go through to the view on Tuesday.
Just want to see the main attraction, just in case it gets sold to an independent buyer rather than one of our own institutions

I didnt go to the link, I realised you were talking about a map up for sale that was mentioned in our local newspaper yesterday.
Originally plotted in 1540, no bad for some foreigners eh!

But I dont think I will be putting a bid in either, couldnae afford the commission alone

A dealer in London?

I wonder where it will end up then? Not likely to be anyplace in Scotland, methinks!

Our museums a bit short of cash?
