I am trying to find any details on Roderick McNab a canal boatman, born abt 1810, Glasgow, married to Euphemia Beaton, I have her born Renfrewshire, but not sure were I got this from!!
I got there names from their sons DC, James McNab 1827-1902, sorry I don’t have much on them, but if someone could maybe direct me in the right direction, as I can’t seem to find out anything about them at all.

Hi Sarah
To be honest, the only thing I’m sure about are their names, and his occupation, I have uploaded their son James Mcnab's death cert, if that is any help.

Sorry I don’t have anything else. I just can’t find them anywhere

Well, I would certainly agree that you are correct on what the death certificate says. Hmmm. It sounds like the informant (son William?) might have got things mixed up.
I'm sure you've seen the James McNab born 13 Dec 1825 in Barony, Lanark, parents George McNab and Elisabeth Reid.
In a parent search on the IGI, there are 10 children listed for James McNab and Jean McKean (William doesn't show up for some reason). The eldest son is George and, in 1855, there is a daughter named Elisabeth Reid McNab... No children named either Roderick or Euphemia. This is your James' family, I assume? Do you know any other reason he would have named a daughter Elisabeth Reid?
Here's an idea: Son William got confused... Could he have mistook the generations and George's father was Roderick and mother Euphemia? It wouldn't be the first time that the informant on a death certificate skipped a generation. On the other hand, no such couple can be found anywhere
as I'm sure you know.
In 1841 George McNab is an Ag Lab in Hope Park, Glasgow Martyrs, age 50
Elisabeth Reid, age 40, is enumerated under her maiden name although living with George.
Disturbingly, James appears to be called Richard in 1841
No, that is his big brother who was born in 1823, but James is not at home... Nor are brothers George (b. 1820), David (b. 1828) and Andrew (b. 1831).
George is an Ag Lab in Mearns, Renfrewshire in 1841
David I can't find for sure
Andrew might be the Ag Lab in Covington and Thankerton, Lanarkshire in 1841
Okay, got to go do something else, but this is the best I can do at the moment. As I'm sure you've noticed, Rodericks are few and far between...
Best of luck!
Sarah

I'm going to confuse the issue further just in case.
I also looked at the James McNab and Jean McKean family on the IGI and saw the Reid surname.
This was after I found this.
RODERICK BEATON
Male Family
Marriages:
Spouse: JEAN REID Family
Marriage: 01 JUN 1827 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
He is a turner in 1841.
A check of the IGI tells you they named a daughter Euphemia Eliza.
Bet yur heid's burstin' noo
