NLS Maps

Post by Pandabean » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:00 pm

I have been looking around the toan plans for a few areas and noticed that if you get in close enough you can get detailed plans of some buildings such as Poorhouses, and the Aberdeen Castlegate, Marischal College.

I was looking for the Inveresk Poorhouse but I have no idea where it was located within the town. Does anyone know the rough area where it would be located?

Hi Andy,

Inveresk Poorhouse was out of Musselburgh, beyond Inveresk village.

See http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html ... resk.shtml for more information and a small portion of map.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks, I have been using that site and puzzling over where the little map section relates to on the larger scale maps.

Hello Andy,

the poorhouse may be shown as Wedderburn House on later maps. The railway line on the map is still there, and just to the right of the map is where the railway goes under the A6124 road from Musselburgh to the A68.

Regards,

John
