Looking for any other children of Archibald Smeal and Margaret Brydon
The children i have so far found
Christan 1769 Ettrick Agnes 1775 Peebles May 1779 Heriot David 1783 Heriot Betty 1792 heriot and Margaret 1792 Heriot if any one has any info on this family it would be great to hear from you

I don't but lived in Heriot for a short time whilst working for a family living there.It is a beautiful spot & I would think not much has changed-excepting the nearby motorway-since your rellies were living there.Mainly farming of the sheep variety & the Village Church is a lovely wee building.
I think I have had a wee peep at the OPR for Heriot as the house I was living in was the old Manse & the Minister's child was reported to have been drowned in the wee stream that ran at the end of the front garden.
We got snowed in at least two occasions in the one winter I spent there.
It was great fun climbing on top of the abandoned cars buried in the snow & riding on a passing tractor to make it back to the house.
