Probably a wild goose, chase it if you want: (if any of this seems to fit anywhere, I can get you more details from the records...)

From the US Census:

1850 Lisbon, Waukesha, Wisconsin
Thos Chalmers, 35, Scotland
Wm. Chalmers, 37, Scotland
Ann Robinson, 20, Scotland

1860 Lisbon, Waukesha, Wisconsin
Thomas Chalmers, 50, Scotland
James Chalmers, 52, Scotland - this is the first one I found
John Shaw, 52, Scotland
Ann Robinson, 30, Scotland
Ann Gilmore, 20, Scotland

1870 Lisbon, Waukesha, Wisconsin
Found the two Anns (Ann R is still 30 years, where as Ann G is now 25!)
Ann R has the distincion of being 'Idiotic' Maybe that's the secret of eternal youth! :)
Other Gilmores have joined them from Scotland (or maybe I just missed them in the earlier census records.)
No sign of Thomas or James....

Given the crazy disparities in the ages, I halfway suspect that William in 1850 is James in 1860. But then again, there seems to be alot of coming and going too.

Had a quick look at the Wisconsin Historical Societies databases, didn't see anything that looked like this bunch.

Hello,

I noticed this post is from a few years ago, however, I just came across it now. The CHALMERS, GILMORE, and ROBINSON discussed in the posts are my family. I would be interested to know if you have found any further information since your post. Also, I am willing to help in any way I can. I have some further information on the family.

Hoping to hear back from you,

Lorrie
