adobe

Post by Bertha » Thu Mar 08, 2007 9:25 pm

Hi
Is anyone having trouble with Adobe today.
Yesterday I received an attatchment in PDF which opened alright using Adobe. (The attatcment was on recent family history) Also used it to view houses on ESPC website until late last night.
Tonight I came in to look at the file again and it wouldn't open. Viewing houses on ESPC not available either.
Adobe 7.0 which had only recently been downloaded to my computer via Google Pack also Adobe 5.1 which I had already been using didn't work!
I tried to reinstall from Adobe, no luck, goes through set up then stops halfway, message says Error 1406 could not write value to key, veryify that you have sufficient acces to that key.
Now I know I have loads of space on my machine.
Tried removing and reloading Google Pack, it loads everything else but Adobe stalls again.
Can any experts out there advise me?
Cheers
Bertha

A few questions...

Have you tried UNinstalling adobe before reinstalling it again, or are you trying to reinstall on top of the faulty one?

Have you had any other software installed/updated between the last time you viewed a PDF file and the trouble starting

If so

Have you tried "restoring" your PC to a point before that. Remember, you won't lose any data files doing this.

 Forget everything I just said

Go to this page and follow the instructions. Should fix it

Hi Mary
Thanks for the help. I knew someone around here would know what to do.
I originally had 5.1 on Tuesday I loaded Google Pack which updated to 7.
Last night I installed Google Earth which the link to the pack said would be with it but was not so had to do it separately don't know if that did something. I was sure we had viewed some houses on the Edin Solcitors Property Site after that (they use Adobe).
Used your link, the Fix thing seemed to work. I had already unistalled all versions. Then went back in and loaded 5,1 again, feel sure 7 is the problem but will give it a try tomorrow, too late tonight.
All the best
