Hi there

Have had a look on Scotland's People and cannot find anyone who matches that description at all. Are you sure of your name and dates?

I tried with wildcards as L*b*n and still no Jane, or any of the normal variations of Jane.

All thebest,

thanks everyone :) ...think I'll have to do some more research re:Child Labour Exemption Certificate, issued by the Education Board in Scotland early 1900's.

How do I access Scottish Education Archives?

The only info I: have at present is :

Jane Laban 9 Foundry St.... and at the top of the Certificate Dunbarton.
Issued 31st.May 1903 when Jane was 13

Where there any Irish Emigrants in Scotland at that time? Maybe her birth took place over in Ireland.

I tried the IGI, in case she was from Ireland, or elsewhere in the UK for that matter. Nothing came up at all.

I also checked the BIVRI and found three, but the latest was born far too early (1868 in Staffordshire). The other two were born in Ireland even further back.

I know searching these were clutching at straws, but thought I'd give it a try, just in case there was a submitted entry on IGI. They're not always accurate but sometimes give a hint. Sorry.

Hi

I think you may be right with your guess about her being born in Ireland. Makes life a bit more difficult.

Just had another look on BIVRI CD's and the surname (searched excluding any firstnames) also seems to figure a lot in England.

Maybe that is where the family moved to Scotland from. Might be worth a search on that basis on findmypast.com or familysearch.com.

Jane Laban

Hi!

Just had a look on 'Find my Past' and the best I could come up with was:-

JANE LABON Oct, Nov, Dec, quarter 1890 Walsall 6B 697.

Don't know if that is of any help!

Best regards
