Hi Lesley , I have tried Scotlands People with limited success. I have avery tattered marriage certificate for peter Waters and Elizabeth Flanagan dated16/7/1888 which giver her fathers name as James Flanagan and his occupation as farmer. Both sets of parents are listed as deceased. The marriage took place in St>Johns Portugal St . which no longer exists. I isuspect the family are buried in St. Kentigerns cemetery as i have a certificate stating that Peter and Elizabeth had a plot there as their daughter was buried there c.1897. At the time of their marriage Elizabeth was 24 and Peter was 28.They both lived in Tradeston Glasgow The cemetery plot number1430. section4,classA. The registration number is3468. I came to a dead end there and was hoping that somewhere out there someone may be able to enlighten me futher. i havent been able to trace St. Kentigerns on the net. thanks for your help. Hi Patricia
(Where did the marriage take place? If in Scotland both sets of parents should be on the marriage cert. You are so lucky to have an original!
)
Another area worth checking would be the census, also available on SP, as that would give an indication of birthplace.
I may be wrong, but with those surnames I would not be surprised if your trail leads back to Ireland at some point.
If you have trouble finding things on SP, give us a shout here and give us the details!!
There are, as far as I remember, two St. Kentigerns. I think we have the links for them somewhere on here - I'll go look.

Given that you know their ages at the time of marriage, the next step would be to look for their births. You have the parents' names with which to cross check, so you will know the right one when you find it.I have avery tattered marriage certificate for peter Waters and Elizabeth Flanagan dated16/7/1888 which giver her fathers name as James Flanagan and his occupation as farmer.
Elizabeth was 24 and Peter was 28.
