John Wilson/county Tyrone abt 1835 .....

Post by Margaret » Sun Mar 18, 2007 2:42 am

Hi All, Maybe there someone out in TS that can help me. Durning my research into my husbands family, I have discovered that his Grandfather William Wilson (William was born in Wellington NSW Australia to Mary Myers no indication who his Dad was)was adopted by a John Wilson who was born in County Tyrone abt 1835 and whose parents were James Wilson and Elizabeth Crozier. I have been able to trace him back to his work in NSW Australia in 1895 but to date have been unable to find a birth in Ireland for him or why he came to Australia. Look forward to any suggestions.
Cheers

Hi Margaret,

Irish records are notoriously difficult and the fact that the mother's name was most often not included, even in birth/baptism records doesn't help.

On IGI there is only one John Wilson born in Tyrone to a James Wilson c1835 +/-5 years, but his mother's name is given as Ellen (no surname). This is a submitted entry.

Hello Mary
Thanks for your help, my John Wilson is a real mystery for me and I just thought if I could trace his parents then I might get some idea when he came to Australia and why? It dosent look like he came as a convict but he was working as a servant/garderner. Oh well I will just keep looking
thanks again :D
Cheers
