Hi Glenn

Sorry I'm not connected to the GREENLEES.....but there are records you can access online that would help you perhaps find some relatives/descendants on your own!

Start with the IGI found at www.familysearch.org and a parent search will give you these births to Daniel and Margaret:

1. WILLIAM GREENLEES - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 20 NOV 1874 Neilston, Renfrew, Scotland

2. GRACE GREENLEES - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 27 OCT 1872 Neilston, Renfrew, Scotland

3. WALTER GREENLEES - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 15 JUL 1868 Lochwinnoch, Renfrew, Scotland

And then a quick look at the 1881 Scottish Census shows the family as such:

Dwelling: Benston
Census Place: Abbey, Renfrew, Scotland
Source: FHL Film 0203566 GRO Ref Volume 559-3 EnumDist 14 Page 10
Marr Age Sex Birthplace
Daniel GREENLEES M 32 M Lochwinnoch, Renfrew, Scotland
Rel: Head
Occ: Genl Labourer
Margaret GREENLEES M 31 F Coatbridge, Lanark, Scotland
Rel: Wife
Walter GREENLEES 12 M Lochwinnoch, Renfrew, Scotland
Rel: Son
Occ: Scholar
Grace GREENLEES 8 F Neilston, Renfrew, Scotland
Rel: Daur
Occ: Scholar
John GREENLEES 5 M Howwood, Renfrew, Scotland
Rel: Son
Ellen GREENLEES 1 F Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
Rel: Daur

You can then access www.Scotlandspeople.gov.uk to purchase digital images of the original birth certificates. Any one of these will contain the information of when and where Daniel and Margaret were married (but you already have a good idea of this) so it would be easy enough to obtain a copy of their Marriage Certifcate next which would likely give you further informaiton on their parents.

You should definitely follow up the family on the census records for 1891 and 1901 and possibly identify marriages for Walter's siblings.

Since Death records are available online up to 1956 it's possible to pick up informant names from the next generation.

I hope you find some of them!

Best wishes
Jean

I am researching the Greenlees line but my lot are from the Inveresk/Musselburgh area. Prior to 1800 there were no Greenlees people in the area so they must have moved from elsewhere in Scotland.

I would be happy to help if you have come across anyone on this side of the country. :)
