Need help on Clyde St. Glasgow

Post by Wanda Stevenson » Fri Apr 06, 2007 4:42 pm

According to the 1841 Census, my GGG greatgrandparents lived on Clyde St. in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Milton. Don't know house #. They had @ least four children residing there as well. His name was John Stevenson and his wife was Jane. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Wanda,

Still searching but as far as I can see it was in the area now known as Port Dundas.

I followed the trail on the 1841 census and that led to Water Street.

Glasgow valuation rolls show Water Street leading to Clyde Street in Port Dundas.

Be back later.

Regards,
Annette M

Dear Annette;
Thanks for checking for me. They seemed to drop off the face of the earth, can't find them after 1851 census. I was interested in anything you can find for me.
Thanks again

Hello Wanda,

Sorry - I thought you were trying to locate Clyde Street.

Perhaps they died between 1851 and 1855. I've had a few like that and it's really frustrating.

Hello Wanda,

Glasgow had few Clyde Streets then but I am pretty sure this was the onebecause of the surrounding streets.

The wider area can be seen here.

Your section is VI.6.20

1857 OS map from www.nls.uk
