Decendants of Andrew & Clara Rose Patterson of Dumfries

I'm hoping that I can trace any decendants of Andrew Patterson and his wife, Clara Rose, who were married at 15 Cresswell Terrace, Dumfries on 23rd October 1884. At that time Andrew was a Master Tailor in the High Street and Clara was a waitress at the Railway Station Hotel. Andrew's father was David, a retired shepherd and his mother was Grace, maiden name Kennedy.

As far as I am aware, Andrew & Clara had 8 surviving children - 6 boys and 2 girls - William born on the 16th July 1885, Andrew Frank in 1887, Alexander in 1889, Robert in 1891, Arthur in 1893, Clara Matilda in 1895 and, possibly, another daughter. The family home was, initially, at 2 Corberry Terrace and then at "Claraville", Rotchell Road both in Maxwelltown up until Andrew's death in 1919.

I assume that sometime after Clara moved to Glasgow to live with one of her sons and this is where she died in 1929. However, Andrew and Clara are both buried in the cemetary off Craigs Road in Dumfries.

I would love to be able to contact any of their descendants - I have a family tie with Clara whose maiden name was Honfeldt and who was born in Prussia around 1860.

I usually find the best way to start is to look through other trees and try to match up ancestors. Using the likes of Genes Reunites and Ancestry I've managed to track down a few people who share ancestors.

Here's the family in 1901 but they were in Kirkcudbright at that time. Also note there were indeed eight children. Looks to be Joseph that likely signed her DC in Glasgow. Have you been able to trace marriages for any of them?

Thanks for your kind input - what you say confirms my information. As yet I haven't gone on to investigate marriages etc of the Patterson children. My only interest is in their mother, Clara, to whom I find I am related. I was hoping that by opening this topic someone who knew of the Pattersons could help me with information on her.

It may be that I will have to go that route in the future but for now I have my fingers crossed!!
