Can anyone recommend sites about U.S. servicemen (specifically the Navy) in Glasgow during WW2.
My father who was in the US Navy during WW2 met my mom who was from Glasgow. Both are deceased, but in researching my family history, I've been curious where exactly they may have met.
I've been to a few sites with regard to the Clydebank Blitz, etc.., but I haven't yet been able to find an answer.
Suggestions and/or any information are welcome.
Many thanks. Karrie
PS. I think my mom told me once many, many years ago, but you know how the ol' memory fades ...

Hi Karrie
I don't know of suitable sites on the web but as far as American service men meeting up with Glasgow lassies - look no further than the Locarno Ballroom, Sauchiehall Street.
The Americans had the money and the nylon stockings and the Glasgow girls could dance anyone's socks off
The Locarno remained an institution for years in Glasgow, even I remember when you could go for a quick trip round the floor for half an hour at lunch time for 1/-.
Regards
Lorna
