Craw family-Is Craw a sept?

Post by John Bird » Thu Jul 26, 2007 4:48 am

Hi

I can trace my Craw ancsetors back to about 1550. They come from Edinburgh and later, other parts of Midlothian. However I cannot find any reference to the Craw family as a sept a clan.

Is it the case that some families, such as the Craws, cannot be "related" to a particular clan.

I would appreciate any comments.

thanks

The little book I have [which was published by Collins but free with a Sunday newspaper] says that the district source for Craw is East Berwickshire [Auchincraw] 14th C.
