Can any one Help??

Post by karenkozak » Fri Jul 27, 2007 4:30 pm

I'm trying to find Jean Storie and confirm her marriage But so far I have not been able to find any marriages on her>> if she is correct Jean/Jane Storie born 1780 Barffod Scotland she should be the dau of William Storie and Elizabeth Stewart
.
I have two marriages and so far cannot confirm them as I cannot find any marriages to a Jean/Jane Storie..
1- William Baird married April 9 1814 Lochwinnoch Renfrew Sct. they had 3 boys
2- James Munn married Dec 19 1812 High Church Paisley Renfrew Scotland they had 7 children..
Its strange that no marriage License or Reg cannot be found??? can any help..Please and thank you very much for any help recieved..
thanks Karen

Not quite sure what you mean by not finding any marriages of a Jean Storie as you have found the one to William Baird in Lochwinnoch, where, at least a few, children of Elizabeth Stewart and William were born.

There is another marriage which seems more likely if you are sure she was born around 1780 -
JEAN STORIE
Female

Marriages:
Spouse: WALTER MATTHIE
Marriage: 08 JAN 1803 Lochwinnoch, Renfrew, Scotland

Where is Barffod? Could it be Barrhead?

Kind regards,
Annette M

Sorry about the spelling, but that is how it was sent to me.. until i was on SP did i notice that there was no such place and Barrhead was in its place
It get sooo confusing when they name all there children the same... I was just trying to find out since I cannot find and confirm that maybe Jean Storie that was married to these men might be one and the same??? Maybe?? the dates of birth and the marriage dates are so close in comparsion its uncanny??? :!:

Hi Karen and Welcome to TalkingScot [scotland-flag]

Annette has given you some leads, I see. Have you looked on ScotlandsPeople, or is your information from Roots/Ancestry. Compulsory registration was not required prior to 1855, so your best hope on ScotlandsPeople is the OPRs (Old Parish REgisters) but you won't find everyone there either, as those are primarily records from the Church of Scotland.

Hi Karen,

What facts do you have about Jean Storie?

Kind regards,
Annette M
