Can anyone enighten me on this mysterious email

Post by Helen G » Thu Aug 16, 2007 6:07 pm

I recenty received an email from an unknown sender

It supplied me with the name of a Executive Manager with xxxxxxxx
stating ; I have an investor under my
portfolio with a closing balance of $42.870m as his first initial
deposit.this investor died three years ago leaving no WILL or
AUTHORIZATION for Re-transfer of his investment and its proceeds to the
INHERITOR.I have personally carried out an investigation on the subject
matter that took me 12 months to finalize and was made to understand
that the family or relatives of the investor knows nothing about his
investment with fidelity and none have any records of all his deposits
and investment with us,there by creating an avenue for claiming of the
said funds with its accrued interest on presentation of a trustworthy
person that can stand as the INHERITOR to the deceased.
If you are interested i can present you as the INHERITOR with proper documentation that will qualify you to have the funds claimed and on doing this, our establishment will not question the release of the funds to you as i will make sure that we comply with the banking laws and ethics of claiming the investment in our establishment.
Our sharing ratio will be 50:50.Please contacted me for more details if interested.

I am a bit concerned that this is a hoax email and moved it direct into my spam mail.

I am also concerned that anyone connecting to the hotlink will have their details obtained through a back door. When I did a search for this company it told me very little.

Has anyone seen this kind of this before?

Many thanks
Helen

Looks like it is well known:

Hi
Definitely a Scam, it is allied to the so called "Nigerian" bank funds transfer scam.

Don't even touch it with the proverbial barge pole.

Anything like that gets the order of the boot around here! Sadly, someone somewhere will be taken in by it and do something rash.

Helen never open emails unless you know the sender. As for this its a scam and you can either report it and delete it or just delete it. Either way do not respond to it.A reply only confirms your email.
Take Care,
Heather

The best protection against spam is to protect your email address and not give it out willy nilly to anything or anyone you happen to click on as you browse the internet.

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) allow you to have more than one email address. Simply set up a second email address, use it for all the rubbish and be assured that it will attract plenty of spam. Keep your main email address strictly for family, friends, business and things serious.

Users of more sophisticated email programs such as Mozilla Thunderbird (and which contain spam filters), will probably find this easier to set up and use. I don’t use Outlook Express but in that program I think you have to switch identities in one of the menus and it may not be as user friendly. (Correct me if I’m wrong).

Most non virus spam is self inflicted and is a result of people not protecting the integrity of their email address. If you are getting an unbearable amount of spam into your main email address think about changing it and informing your family and friends of the new one. If that is impractical you can use a spam filtering program obtainable from many places on the internet but this is treating the symptoms not the disease.

As far as email is concerned always assume guilt before innocence. The email from your best friend with the enticing attachment may not be. If you have even the faintest glimmer of a doubt don’t touch it.

Speaking personally, I don’t receive any spam at all. Even the spammers don’t want to talk to me.

Thanks,
Alan

Hi Scooter and Heather
The offending email has been disposed of, I thought that I would highlight it to other TS members in the event that they may have received a similar email and clicked onto the hyperlink (hoping for riches beyond my means) .

Thank you all for your replies with regards to this item and I thank you all for your responces, hopefully no one will be fooled into replying to these email addresses.

Thanks again for all of your feedback with regards to this topic.
Kind Regards
Helen

Hi Andy

This is the first spammer I have found to my email addy, due to my occupation I have 1 or 2 addresses.

My daughter tends to download music from other sites and we had recently encountered a virus onto our computer which I was not too happy about.

Virus was quashed comp running super fantastic, out of the blue I get email (not very proffessional I might add if it was send by a alleged Executive Manager .

Daughter is barred from using comp.

I asked for confirmation on this site with regards to my own research which was confirmed and I am also trying to highlight to other members of TS in the event that they may have received similar emails

Thanks Andy
Kind Regards
Helen

Thanks Helen,
I hope you didn't think I was directing all that verbage at you specifically. Most of my ramblings tend to be of the Soapbox variety i.e directed at all and sundry. I think you're right in what you say about bringing such things to notice.
Regards,
Alan
