Re: Wife's maiden name on headstone

I don't think I would be bold enough to say that it proves that she was Scottish. She partook in a Scottish Presbyterian Church marriage in Tasmania. She married a Scotsman. There are a few Mary Bogues [and many more by the spelling 'Boag'] born in an 'appropriate' time frame who were baptised in Sc...

The 1921 census took place overnight 19th-20th June; I would like ...

One to consider... Death: Charlotte Campbell, domestic servant, single, 1897, age "about 30", parents unknown, in East Funach, Durris, Kincardineshire. I don't know if it is relevant, but the doctor who gave the cause of death as pneumonia was from Peterculter. Durris is a near-neighbouring parish t...

Re: Trying to find these Campbell Sisters

I took a look at the death certificate and that gives the order of marriages. Christina Gemmel, wife of (1) James Malcolm, labourer (2) James Gunn, baker (3) Thomas Gemmel, pedlar A search for her first marriage shows that she married James Malcolm in St Nicholas District in the Burgh of Aberdeen in...

Re: searching for Archie McFarlane

On looking at the online OS maps at Clunie parish, Perthshire, the nearest that I can see to Cato are the following: Craigton, Craigie, Craigend and Cairns. Re: Vandepeear Name

Hi Marlie, On looking at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk you can see that since 1855 there have been 48 Vandepeear births registered in Scotland, almost all in or near Edinburgh. The earliest from the statutory registrations which started in 1855 in Scotland is in 1858 in North Berwick. The church record...
