Hi Marva,

It sounds like you made an old lady's Easter weekend extra special for her.

The possibility I will put forward is that Janet Hill was born in 1835 to James Hill and Grace Hill (ms. Wilkie). Some time later, presumably between 1855 and 1869 James Hill had died and Grace re-married to a man of surname Moran. I can find nothing in the IGI to support this idea, but it is my sug...

Of the definitions of bower given in the Chambers English Dictionary, the only one near to an occupation is:

I have also received a blank grey screen where I was expecting to see an 1871 census page. The quickest route to making the image appear was to hit the F5 key to refresh the page. That worked fine (as did closing the image and re-clicking on the button to view that image - button now marked as paid ...

I make out Matthew Skirving's mother's details as Agnes SKIRVING, ms. GOODALL (deceased).

Hi Marva,

I think I've found her indexed by BT under her (late?) husband's name. Answer given by private message - I'm not keen on these types of details on a public forum.

Hi Jean, I suspect thst your clones in Old Kilpatrick or West Kilpatrick will apply to the whole of Enumeration Distict number 501. That district is referered to as "Old (or West) Kilpatrick" on the GROS list of Registration Disticts. I would expect to find the same in the neighbouring Registration/...
