Re: Lorimer Conundrum

nothing in the Fordyce Presbytery minutes, sadly. First 1814 entry is April.
A bit disappointing - I was looking for more in the tale.

And this is just the first week of the Kirk Records - what other 'goodies' are in store for us.

Re: John Morrison born in Paisley

Morning Jane, I've been mulling this over in my mind. Could you perhaps tell us where you gleaned all the information you have? Was it all from the letter to your Mother? When was the letter written, and was Johnston Street the address on it? [sorry if that's intrusive] Or was any of it from family ...

Virtual Volumes on Scotlands People

I've just logged into Scotlands people this morning and found a big change. Something called Virtual Volumes . It was taking over a quarter of the right hand of my screen on every page I was on. Something about searching for records not indexed by personal name. I did click the link to 'Find out how...

Re: Missing birth and death record

Even more confusion on my father's mother's side..her maiden name was Helsdown and have seen that in various forms even in one family...Hellsdown, Helsdowne, Hilsdon, Elsdon to name but a few. Again in the, not so distant, past many couldn't read/write for less spell and the registrar just wrote do...
