Thank you again - I didn't realise that about the more recent certificates. I did order a 2005 death certificate - but the lady was born more than 50 years ago. It was a distant relative/friend with whom we had lost touch & amazingly (with the little information available) we were able to trace what had happened over the past few years. In Australia we would have been absolutely unable to access the certificate.

I did realise about the double transcription - as ancestry seems to show the typed ones while FreeBDM often has the originals, it does add another layer to error checking!
