Thanks Sally/Jenny,
It is very exciting and we do appreciate how lucky we are.
The elderly gentleman in N.Z. is not on the web so we will have to be patient. As you say it MAY just tell us what happened to Alastair the explorer. When I spoke to the man in N.Z. on the phone he read out just a few names and dates but solved TWO unanwsered questions just like that. I had been searching for a William Frances Ross ( a girl ) born in 1881 in Little Dunfield in Perth but she dissappeared before the 1901 census. Dave the Kiwi read out that a Francis had died in 1899 and sure enough when I checked Scotlands people there was the sad death record ( accidental chloroform administration) of poor Willie. It just proves that the name on the birth certificate can be completely different to that on the death certificate and that so called boys names or vaiations - (Francis/Frances) can be very misleading.
I won't bore you with the other but it was a corker.
We await the full tree with great anticipation!!!!!
Thanks again for your support
