What they send is a copy of the full page from the microfilm that they have.
It's not generally realised that there were two completely separate filmings of the OPR and Salt Lake City have both. The later one is better in that it's framing of pages is better, - occasionally a record might be added down a margin, so if your record can't be found, it's worthwhile tracking down the reference in the LDS catalogue for the other filming.
I seem to recall that payment is only possible in US$, - has anyone outside the US had recent experience? Two weeks from what I'v heard over the years is a great improvement in terms of turnaround time.

I Usually do this via my FHC & sometimes the films take less than two weeks. It costs £2.40 for short-term loan.I hadn't appreciated that you could do it directly off the IGI.Good!

Hi all
I'm confused now.
I've ordered both census & OPR films from my local LDS in the past for a small fee - a couple of pounds I think & a great and valuable service it is. But I thought what Kristin meant was that the LDS would send you a printout of a page, on paper, you had asked for, taken from the film. Can someone please clarify.
Best wishes
Lesley

As long as you quote the correct LDS reference you can request Salt Lake City to send you a copy.

Sorry to add to all the confusion.
What I did was asked to LDS in Utah to send a copy of the OPR that the IGI is based on. Here is an exmaple of I wanted to see from the IGI.
JOHN TURNBULL
Male Family
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages:
Spouse: JANET ANDREW Family
Marriage: 13 MAY 1798 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Messages:
Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the marriage date.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Source Information:
Batch No.: Dates: Source Call No.: Type: Printout Call No.: Type:
M119743 1786 - 1804 1042937 Film 6902528 Film
M119743 1786 - 1804 1042935,1042937 Film NONE
I used the source information and filled out the form that is availbe on this link.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... rvices.asp
I then received a copy of the OPR that the IGI was based on frm microfilm. Showed the little details like occuaption and that they were from that parish.
I think but am not sure if it is the same thing that SP would have sent me. I had to pay 10 pounds on SP to get this copy as it is not on-line to view. LDS cost me $2 to get the copy. I could have orderd the film but this was easier to order 8 copies and not have to leave the house. (By the way, I have a 4 month old baby and it is hard to get out and do any research. He does not like the archives
)
Does this help the confusion?- Kristin

Kristin,
Thank you so much for that link
- I had been looking around the Family search site and couldn't seem to find anything
Like you I have young children plus the distance makes a trip to the archives or FHC a rare luxury. This will be a great help to me and I really want to thank you for pointing it out.
Kind Regards
Barbara
P.S. Did any of your Yuills make it to Canada? My late Uncle was married to Yuill from Burgoyne, Ontario

Hello all
Just wanted to thank everyone for bringing this method of obtaining info direct from SLC to light. I had never tried it before and am very pleased to report that on 9 Feb 2006 I faxed off a completed order form for 6 different records. One to find the name and address of a patron who submitted a baptism from 1831 Ireland. The other 5 an assortment of extracted records from England and Ireland earliest date 18 July 1790. Today in the mail I received all copies. Very legible. Very prompt. And yes....I'm very very pleased
The order was stamped as received 10 Feb....and today is 24 Feb....and that time period included a federal holiday on the 20th. WOW!!! The best $12 I ever spent!!!
Best wishes to all
Jean
