I started a response to this at work and then we had a fierce thundershower and I had to log off before I was finished. The wind blew and the hail fell and then the rain...but now the sun is out and thankfully it's no longer sweltering
Ok...the BIVRI disk set.
So am I satisfied?? Yes!! and why is that? I found English rellie information I didn't have previously. I did not find any Scottish or Irish information sadly.........but I have found a considerable amount of Scottish information for folks posting here on TalkingScot!! So I see the investment as not a waste at all!! A few important things to note....you'll be more likely to find results from Parishes located in "lowland" Scotland as the disk set favors that area. You'll find many more births than marriages. You'll find more OPR classed results than Statutory (or at least it seems that way to me!) And finally.....just because it's on the IGI does not mean it's on the BIVRI disk!!! And viceversa!! Using the two in tandem is always wise! For example many many times I've found on the IGI births of females only to a family but none of the males....but on the BIVRI disks you'll likely pick up some or all of that families male births too!!!! In the US the cost was only $20 delivered right to my mailbox!
Don't forget that just because you can't find anyone of your own...you might just be able to extend a helping hand to someone else....and then that someone else might just extend a helping hand to someone else...and before you know it you've started a chain reaction that at some point will return to you in ways you never imagined possible. Go ahead..what have you got to lose?
Best wishes
Jean
PS...And no I don't get kickbacks from the LDS church!
