I have tried looking for William McKimmie on the Ellis Island site several times.I have used every permutation of the name, wildcards etc & Zilch.
I took advantage of the free Ancestry access(thanks for the heads-ups Tracey.)& I got two for the price of one!My Great-Uncle travelled with his cousin/2nd Cousin-haven't quite worked out which.
I also found my GGreat-Uncle(90% sure) after again searching on Ellis/Castle Garden but again to my delight& shock!!! Ancestry came up trumps!
I know it's a trawl through Ancestry but sometimes you find relations you didn't know you had by the choices they give you.

Joette i just found my gt grandmothers sister on Ancestry (after 3 years of looking mostly just for her) and she ended up in Marilyns part of the world
The only thing that clinched this was her mothers address being on it and i know where she was in 1908.There is an entry on Ellis Island that i have had a feeling about but it didnt fit, various reason etc......... but now i know its more than likely it is them even with a slight fib on it.
So in short i am greatful for Ancestry putting this on for free.
Now where do i find out about Rhode Island genealogy........................
