Hello again,

Don't have a clue about English births but I just found this on Free BMD.

McLENNAN Hugh Albert Marylebone 1a 491 jb010640. According to that he was registered in June 1910.

Kind regards,
Annette M

hi nelmit, i've checked the english site and the entry you mentioned must be my dad. it appears the whole family were doun in marylebone london at the time. i will mnever find out because everybody is dead now. i had no idea my dad's family were down there he never spoke of it i just presumed they had always stayed up north and in glasgow. this has been an eye opener for me. isn't a pity families don't talk about their past life very much.

Do you know Frank's occupation?

hi nelmit as far as i know on my mum and dad's marriage certificate he was a gardener. i know my dad, when he was young worked on a farm or a croft because he won a ploughing competition which was reported in a local newspaper which my mum had a copy of at one time. i think he lived in rosemarkie or culbokie at that time. do you know the name of newspaper publications for that area then?

hi, sent for dad's birth certificate it appears he was born in marylebone in london no father was registered. he was born before his mother was married to francis kenny, so \i don't think francis was my grandfather so it looks as if i have come to the end of the road with this search. i have managed to trace his mother's side back to the 1830's. i'm going to start my husband's side.

Hi mossiepossie
Family trees are often scattered with twists and turns we were not expecting when we started out looking for family members.
I'd agree it can be disappointing when you find that a line is going to be a bit of a non-starter, but its all part of life's rich tapestry! (and your tree) There is always a possibility that Frank may be your father's father... perhaps they married after he was born?

Best wishes
Lesley

Hello again,

Do you know Anne's parents names?

I think this could be her (with parents and grannyin 1881. If it agrees with what you've already found about her then you can go back a wee bit further than 1830.
