Being a rather thrifty sort

I held off for the paperback version to be available with stateside shipping. Must admit I sorta lost track of this but when Lizzie reopened this thread with her most recent news of delay I decided to see how I could fare. I checked out a few online options and never having ordered from this particular place before but being assured it was ok as it was through the amazon "marketplace" I placed an order on the 15th. Got immediate confirmations from amazon things were ok and then a few hours later got an email confirmation from the shipper who will be shipping from Florida. I checked the link today and was reasussured it was enroute via ground and is expected to arrive no later than the 23rd. Total charge to the credit card....book...$18.30....shipping...$3.99.....I'll let you know if and when it arrives.
If I were you guys I'd have cancelled long ago just because they've had their chance....one too many times.
Best wishes
Jean

Good morning All,
Latest post on this fiasco from Jean decision made? I cancelled my order from Amazon which I should have done after the fist email from Amazon.
So now what, have to decide from where to purchase? When David got us all stirred up with this book so many months ago I checked out Chapters with no luck at the time. Is Amazon UK to be found in "Amazon" as we know it over here?

Hi All
I still haven't received any notice from Amazon.com about a delay in the shipping of the book. I am crossing my fingers that it will arrive within the next 4 weeks.

Hi All
I received an e-mail today from Amazon.com telling me that the book would be shipped
earlier than expected.

Now that is the kind of e-mail I like to receive.
Regards
Sheila

Here we go again!
I cancelled my order as reported and taking Ina's advise contacted Amazon.UK. They have ONE paperback in stock, great I thought. Started the proceedings and when it came to the credit card bit the perfectly good MasterCard which I used with no problem at Amazon.ca is not acceptable by these people. Emails have been flying back and forth but they never answer a question, they reply with another form letter "sorry you are having trouble etc etc" They always finish up with " If you are using Maestro(switch)... but if you prefer, you may enter the last 5 digits of the card in the space provided, then after you have submitted your order you will be instructed to CALL US with the complete card number".If you have any further problems please call us +44(o)208 9451 (International)
The credit cards they mention I am not familiar with. This is the first time my MasterCard has been rejected, and I use it all the time purchasing BMD's at SP. I have used it often on my frequent visits to the UK.
It would make no sense for me to call them, the cost alone would be much more than the book!
Lizzie in a tizzy!

Lizzie,
The first time I used my master card to purchase from an overseas company (I believe it was a florist) it was also rejected. I phoned my bank to see why my card was rejected and they said it was for security reasons. They then approved the use of my card overseas, and I haven't had a problem since.

Hi all,
Has anyone ever tried to cancel an order with Wal-mart? I'll tell you what, I will never ever order anything online from Wal-mart again...I've had a terrible time trying to cancel my order. Here's their last reply to my request...
"Currently, this order is marked as ?Request to Cancel?. We have contacted or are in the process of contacting our distributor to notify them of your request. Since we work with our distributors to expedite all orders for our customers as quickly as possible, there is a possibility that your item still may ship. In the event the item ships, please do one of the following:..."
I wouldn't exactly say they have tried to expedite anything. Would it be so difficult for them just to acknowledge the fact that they are having problems getting the book
Anyway, here's hoping everyone will get their book in due course.
Regards,
Anne H
