Hi Lesley

Thanks

I hadn't tried it before although I had seen it so I tried a nice simple name.

RESIDE and it came up with

RAESIDE | REIST | RESTO | RICKETT | RISTAU | ROCKETT | RUST |

Speaks volumes for its usefulness - or otherwise :?:

Here's one I'm having trouble with - Emblie Brair, wife of Donald Clerk or Clark, mother of Donald born 1777.

Couldn't believe the index on SP, but the copy arrived and that is what it says her name was.

McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)
