The Archive CD Books Project is closing Down!

Post by emanday » Fri Aug 31, 2007 7:59 pm

If any one has been considering obtaining some of Rod Neep's offerings of old books on CD, they aught to think about doing it now.

Rod is retiring and is offering 50% discount to clear his stock.

I've just spent lotsa money

Hi Mary

He often has good offers (sometimes only apply if you are a member) and although he is retiring from B-G forum i didnt think he was giving up Archive CD's :?

Isnt Bo - Peep (Pam) begining to offer similar in Parish Chest ? (although just looking, no where near the selection )
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

According to the email I got he has decided that, at 62, it's time he spent his time in more relaxing pastimes but will be continuing with the Kenya School Project.

I wish him well.

I thought all the profits from the cd's went to the projects in Kenya :?:
Anyways there is nothing on the web site (that i can see) yet to say he is retiring so i had better go look at the cd's before its too late !

That's a fantastic project and it's a shame that he had to age and retire. But that's life.

Anyone interested in transcriptions of old books on a wide range of subjects could have a look at http://www.sacred-texts.com/

This morning I received the CD's I ordered and have had a quick look at a couple of them.

Absolutely fascinating! As if I didn't spend enough time on the puter already, I'll now be doing my bedtime reading on my lappy as well

I've been in touch with Rod Neeps, and there are about two weeks left before the CDs will no longer be available. So get your last orders in quickly! :)

Well...I ordered $200 worth last week and can't wait for them to come. I'm going to have plenty of reading :)

A few members on the YFT forum have been querying the slow delivery of the CDs, but Rod Neep has helpfully explained the situation. For those placing orders, here is his reply, which I hope is of use:

Hi Folks

Yes, due to the large number of CDs being ordered, we are way behind!
Don't worry though, we'll get through them all.

We have always made CDs to order, and during the sale we are doing the same. What we actually do is process the orders in a batch a couple of times a day. That gives us a "shortfall" of what needs to be made. Those CDs are then made in the same batches in the order in which they were received. (We won't be waiting until the end to see how many of each CD to make! That would slow things down even further for you).

When the shortfall list has been prepared from the batch of orders, then the CD covers are printed.

Once a "batch" (from the shortfall) of CDs is made then they go into the packing room where Kim does her stuff putting the CDs and covers into the cases, and then she matches them up with the packing lists/invoices for each customer and gets them into the post. The postman calls at our place for the sacks of mail at around 4.30pm every day.

But as you can imagine, we are quite a bit behind in making the CDs and packing them. So please try to be as patient as you can... I know, I know... when I order something, then like you, I want it yesterday! Try to resist writing to us asking where your CDs are. Nikki hates not to answer emails, but all it does is slow down the order processing for everyone.

We'll get there!
Thanks for your patience.

Regards
Rod

PS. If there IS a problem with an order then we WILL have already written to you.
