A Wee Question

Post by Helen G » Fri Oct 05, 2007 12:03 am

Hi all

Was wondering if anyone could help in this matter....

I have a gg uncle who had 4 children, one of his daughter's became a nun and one of his son's became a priest. I know when they took their vows they took new names....

Is there a site that I would be able to research in an effort to try and trace them?

Any guidance here would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards
Helen

Hi Helen,

You could maybe get advice from the Scottish Catholic Archives in Edinburgh - their site is at http://www.catholic-heritage.net/sca/ .

Hi Chris,

I have tried that avenue to no avail. Spoke to my parish priest last Sunday as a testing of the waters on the off chance, he told me that if I can give him more info he would try and trace them but was not promising anything.

It would be interesting to find them. I live in hope, but thank's for your input.

Kind Regards
Helen

My brother-in-law's Aunt is almost ninety & a very cheerful retired Nun.
She lives in a "Mother House" with about eight other retired Nuns of varying ages.
They are a lively bunch & I try to visit her every time I am home in Scotland.
She never changed her name but all the family-RC & Non alike call her Sister.
She is very interested in Family History & has with my help started to use the internet for this purpose.
If you knew which Order the daughter had joined it may be a simple task to search as I know Sister helped me do this before.
